The Challenge
A car battery shop does not sell like a typical online store: customers rarely know which battery they need, and the wrong choice — especially on Start-Stop cars, which require EFB or AGM — means a return or a car that will not start. Requests arrive through different channels (a recommendation, an in-shop fitting, a car stranded on the road), each with its own urgency, and with no shared place to track them, many get lost between phone calls, WhatsApp and e-mail. We wanted to show what a platform built around that real workflow looks like, rather than a generic online store.
Our Solution
We built VoltAuto as a WebForge showcase product, with a Next.js 16 frontend and a Django REST Framework API on PostgreSQL. The public side starts from the customer's question: a make → model → generation → engine finder, powered by 224 compatibility rules that automatically recommend EFB or AGM for Start-Stop cars, a catalog of 70 batteries from 10 brands with filters and pagination, and five request flows — from a recommendation to an urgent roadside call-out — with photo upload. Every request becomes a lead in the back-office, where the team tracks it through a pipeline, adds notes, converts it into an order and schedules the fitting. Authentication runs on Better Auth, and Django validates its JWTs against the published keys (JWKS), with role-based access throughout.
